As the Sussex Spaniel Club of America heads into 2025 I predict a year of continued growth, not only in membership numbers, but also in the contributions our many members will make to support this breed we so admire.

We have full committees and an enthusiasm to grow output and outreach in so many ways. My sincere thanks to the members who volunteered to be chairs and committee members. Health, Archives, Breeder Referral, Field and Hunt, Judges Selection, Judges Education, Membership, Outreach, Performance, Public Education, and Website Committees will be presenting the club with new knowledge, ideas, and goals and they will challenge us to all get involved.

We have ended 2024 with some great numbers in terms of successful breedings and resulting litters. 2025 will hopefully follow suit and we will see more success stories. This breed needs to continue to flourish. The world definitely needs more Little Brown Dogs.

Just a reminder to start making your plans to attend the 2025 SSCA National Specialty September 19 – 21. “Spirit of Sussex in St Louis”. It will be held at Purina Farms with the Gateway Cluster followed by a Regional Specialty for the Heart of Ohio Sussex Spaniel Club. On the 2025 National weekend we will hopefully see seven possibilities for majors for dogs and bitches! More details will be released soon!
